In this blog and elsewhere, I have been writing about the bath for years. Of course I will continue to do so, but in 2018 I also plan to include more kitchen ideas and images in my posts.

Waterworks has offered kitchen sinks, faucets and surfaces for nearly 40 years. But in 2015, we added cabinets as the final ingredient for the kitchen. Over the past two years we have built and installed countless kitchens, including my own (although mine is not quite finished yet). Five of our showrooms have complete installations that demonstrate different styles of cabinets, multiple color and finish combinations, fabulous backsplashes and many hardware options from industrial pulls to leather knobs. All of our displays demonstrate how small design changes, or large ones for that matter, can elevate both the design and function of the kitchen.

If you follow Instagram or Pinterest, you will see that we are in a white kitchen moment. However, there are so many ways to say “neutral” and it is not necessarily achieved by painting your kitchen plain white. Rest assured, you will not see a white kitchen at Waterworks. Personally, I am a great fan of Midnight (our nearly black/blue). I am painting my lower cabinets Midnight and the uppers a pale gray called Whisper. I love the combination and think the space will read neutral and not call attention to itself.

To compliment this color scheme, I am using brass accents. I have to admit, I have never used brass in my house other than a collection of 18th-century brass candlesticks. I call this digression an adventure, which I encourage you to embrace as well. I will love the pulls best when they achieve a patina and I do not expect to polish them. Mixing material finishes is another experiment on my part. But, it has been hard coordinating all of the finishes; some are matte and some shiny. My hope is that all will blend into a seamless design idea. I will certainly share the results, good or bad.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for my thoughts on kitchen sinks and faucets, as well as new ideas for the bath.
