Occasionally, a bath is published that really captures the essence of the designer’s personal style and taste. The one pictured in this post has been created by Thomas O’Brien, a longtime collaborator of Waterworks, and his husband  Dan Fink of Dan Fink Studio. I love this space as a complete bath experience; it is a thorough expression of the designers’ personal style and taste; it is warm, comfortable, formal in an informal way and completely charming.

While poking around Barnes & Noble and the Strand bookstore outpost at Club Monaco on 5th Avenue in New York City, I noticed several new and very interesting magazines. The initial attraction is a fabulous cover with amazing photography and unusual fonts; next is the thick mixed paper stock (matte, shiny and colors) and finally, the content. Even the ads take on an artistic and creative simplicity. The content is similar in all: art and architecture, travel, style and fashion. Here is my short list:

The perfect way to start the day (after exercising, of course) is in a shower with fabulous stream of hot water pouring over your body, eyes closed, and the fragrance of aromatic soaps permeating the shower box. How dreamy, especially if you have a large shower with a place for your amenities.

In 2012 Miles Redd created THE BIG BOOK OF CHIC, published by Assouline. His sophisticated and unique style is both playful and glamorous; it mixes high and low, a strong sense of color  and modern gestures. The entire text, quotes from famous artists, actors and authors, is printed in red and black large scale font. Graphically, it is an engaging format and the full page photographs in both color and black and white give the reader an insight into Miles’ very personal blend of work and fantasy.
