Another Beautiful Bath

I cannot resist publishing a really beautiful bath when I see one. In this case, I love the symmetrical space for tub placement just under a window hung with a linen Roman shade with delicate lace trim . It fits with enough room to breathe. This is an Empire tub set on a traditional floor of honed octagons and dots. The chair is small, delicate and quirky that counter balances the solid bathtub. The table also is small with an authentic worn finish. The tall vase on the table balances the space that is well thought out and entirely pleasing.

Black and white simply never goes out of style.  Just think about favorite black and white moments; movies like The Artist, night and day, spectator shoes, courtyards in Rome, a zebra pattern, the mosaic floors at the MET and the ‘little black’ Chanel dress. Black and white baths never go out of style either. They are like chameleons; they can be formal or casual, colorless or high contrast, elegant or understated, traditional or modern.

Tips from the Trade: The Designer

Paul's father owned this 1959 Ferrari 250 GT PF from 1962 to 1964. He loved this car, washed and waxed it religiously and drove it in the driveway before he had a license. To this day he remembers every detail right down to the machine tooling on the ashtray cover, the curve of the sheet metal where it scooped under the headlights and the stitching of the upholstery that he cleaned with saddle soap. He thought of it as rolling sculpture and feels it influenced his taste and how he designs objects. Slideshow

Trends for 2012

A good beginning for the New Year and the newly re-launched THE PERFECT BATH is to think about what trends the year might yield. While I am most certainly not a trend forecaster and usually march to my own drummer, I thought I might attempt some predictions.
