It’s always so much fun to open a new store. It is an opportunity to challenge ourselves on space planning and product partners, share our newest thinking on design with our clients and to highlight our product assortment in more effective ways.
The opening of our new location in Miami is just such an opportunity. We have loved our residence in the historic Moore building on 40th Street in the Design District for the past 10 years and now we are moving to 39th Street into a newly remodeled art deco building. As you can imagine, no matter how big or small a space, there is never quite enough room to deliver all of the messages we would wish.
The photographs will tell a better story but just a few highlights from a design perspective. The main portion of the floor is a dense dark charcoal gray stone called Piedmont. It is available as you see it with square edges or with chiseled edges so that it looks like it has lived its life in a castle. There are some new mosics and an effective display of fittings and accessories. New to the store will be the full assortment of our bath furnishings including apothocary, towels and small bath accessories.
The Design District is a hot bed of activity. There are cool new fashion stores; Marni (great colorful clothes), Christian Louboutin (irrestible) and incredible new restaurants. The home made lemon soda at Fratelli is worth the trip to Miami, Michaels’s restaurant is hopping all the time (you must taste their French fries) and our neighbor,  the district restaurant, SRA. Martinez owned by Michelle Bernstein, is catering our opening party.  And, on 41st Street don’t miss the De la Cruz  Museum.
Miami feels so energetic and international. It is a great place to visit!
