I am often asked where I find inspiration.  Museums are a great source for color and images, pattern and thought provoking  ideas.  Last Saturday I went to see the Yves Klein exhibit at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, DC.  It was a spectacular experience that I want to share with you.

Big Bambu at the Met

A magical view of New York looking south from 82nd Street. It was about 100 degrees on the day I visited, but nothing could diminish the extraordinary excitement of experiencing the construct.Slideshow

If you happen to be in New York before October 31st and it’s not pouring rain, you must visit the exhibit on the rooftop of  The Metropolitan Museum of Art called Big Bambu.  I had no idea what I would find, so you can imagine my wide-eyed surprise upon emerging from the elevator to see thousands of bamboo poles (actually 5500 so far according to the artist Mike Starn) lashed together with nylon mountain climbing rope to walk under, around, over and between.

Inspiration For Your New Bath

I believe that the perfect bath should be defined by how it makes you feel. Your starting place, or inspiration, should come from the experience you want to create.  The first place to look is you; think about the colors that you like because your choices will have profound results, your sense of order and refinement or your uncanny ability to bring the perfect amount of chaos to a situation, the amount of light that hides your wrinkles and your psychic comfort.   If you’re a music lover you should plan for some good equipment and It’s always lovely to have a favorite piece of art or a place for a vase of flowers in the space.
