The recent renovation of our Washington, DC showroom has given us multiple opportunities to think about the bath in new and sometimes bold ways. From using patterned cement tiles on the walls to the installation of decorative water jet-cut mosaics and highly varied 2cm mosaics, we like to inspire our clients to use materials, fittings and fixtures for their own projects in new and different ways.

I love so many things about the three baths pictured here. All were created by Alexandra and Michael Miscczynski of the firm Interiors/Atelier AM (I highly recommend picking up a copy of their book). This young California couple with an eclectic style is able to assemble objects and furniture from all over the world and seamlessly bring them together in an honest and straightforward way. Clearly, this is not as simple as it seems — a sophisticated, educated eye is required to achieve such a sense of harmony and balance within an architectural environment.

This is a stellar example of a white on white bath. The most important features are the cadence of grids, the layering of materials, the graphic details, the layout and the choice of fixtures.

There is much inspiration to be found on the newsstands this fall. In the October 2015 issue of Architectural Digest, be sure to flip to the bath that Nate Berkus, the hip and talented young designer, created for his own house. I was immediately attracted to the book-matched stone feature wall.
